The Nightmare that Got Me Thinking

Näin aivan kamalaa unta yksi yö. Jotenkin en tajunnut mun vaihtovuoden ajankulkua ollenkaan, ja tajusin sit, että on kesäkuu ja oon lähdössä takaisin Suomeen seuraavana päivänä. Mä en ollut pakannut tai hoitanut yhtään asioita, ja kaikkein pahiten iski se, että hostsisko Lacy oli koulussa, enkä mä ollut hyvästellyt sitä ollenkaan, eikä mulla tulisi olemaan mitään mahiksia nähdä sitä ennen kuin lähden. Mua itketti ihan kamalasti ja muutenki tuntu niin kamalalta tää uni.

No joo, onneks tää ei kuitenkaan ollut todellisuutta. Tää uni sai mut kuitenkin tajuamaan, etten mä tuu olemaan täällä enää kuin seitsemän kuukautta, ja se aika tulee menemään aivan älyttömän nopeasti - mun pitää siis todella nauttia tästä ajasta, mitä mulla on jäljellä. Musta tuntuu myös, että toi etten unessa päässy hyvästelemään Lacyä, johtuu siitä, että mä en aina osaa arvostaa kaikkea sitä, mitä mun mahtava hostsisko mun vuoksi tekee. En todellakaan aina tajua oman itsekkyyteni yli sitä, miten toinen yrittää kovasti tehdä mun olon täällä mukavaksi.

Tää mun hostsisko joka mulla on, on varmaan maailman mukavin ja kiltein ihminen, jonka oon tavannut. Love this girl!

I had an awful nightmare one night. Some how I just didn't realize how fast my exchange year went by, and all of a sudden I noticed that it was June and I was supposed to leave the enxt day. I hadn't packed my stuff or done any of the arrangements, but the worst part was that my host sister Lacy was in school and I hadn't said goodbye to her, and there was no way of seeing her before I would leave. I felt like crying and overall it was just a terrible dream.
Well, luckily it was just a dream. It did make me realize, that I'm not going to be here for longer than seven months, and the time is going to pass by super quickly - so I need to enjoy the time I have left. I feel that I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to Lacy in my dream was because I don't always remember to appreciate everything she does for me. I don't alway see what kind of a great host sister I had through my selfishness!
This host sister that I was blessed with is probably the nicest and kindest person I've met. Love this girl!

Homesick... and Sick in Other Ways, too

Viime aikoina on se koti-ikävä kyllä alkanu iskemään kovempaa kuin ennen. Kaipaan kovasti elämää Suomessa! Välillä tulee semmoinen olo, että elämä ois niin paljon helpompaa jos ei ois lähteny vaihtoon ollenkaan. Sain myös kuumeen tuossa pari päivää sitten, joten oon ollu vielä normaaliakin synkempi.

Yleensä tämmösinä hetkinä rupeen sit miettimään, että mitä hyvää mulla on täällä, ja miten mahtavasti mulla asiat oikeestaan on. Oon maailman toisella puolella toteuttamassa mun unelmaa, mulla on ehkä maailman paras hostperhe, mun koulu menee hyvin, nautin mun tunneista aivan sairaan paljon ja mulla on kavereita koulussa! Eli toisin sanoen mulla on tosi paljon syitä olla onnellinen.

Tässä kuvia jotka ei liity aiheeseen millään tavalla, kun kävin ottamassa senior kuvia yhdelle kaverille, Audreylle. Oltiin siis kuvailemassa Lacyn, Aubreyn ja Elijahin (sekä Phinnyn) kanssa. Toi vanha kuplavolkkari oli jotenki niin ihana!

Lately I've been feeling more homesick than before. I miss my life in Finland so much! Sometimes I just get this feeling that it would've been so much easier for me not to become an exchange student and to just stay in Finland. I also got a fever a couple of days ago, so I've been feeling extra bad about my life.
Usually when I start feeling like this, I just start thinking how good things really are about my life. I'm on the other side of the world making my dream come true, I have probably the most amazing host family who I love to death, I'm doing super well in school, I enjoy my classes and I have friends in school! In other words I have a lot of reasons to be happy.
Here are some pictures that have absolutely nothing to do with this subject. I was taking senior pictures for my friend Audrey with Lacy, Aubrey and Elijah (oh, and Phinny). That old Beetle was so awesome!

Trick-or-Treating with the Children

Halloween tuli ja meni! Yleensä olen tosi kyyninen suomalainen kun Halloweenia yritetään tyrkyttää mulle kurkusta alas Suomessa, mutta tänä vuonna intoilin ja juhlin sitä oikeen innolla. Ensi vuonna voin sit taas olla niin kyyninen kuin huvittaa!

Karkki ja kepponen -kierros oli yks Halloweenin kohokohtia! Olin pukeutunut murtovarkaaksi. Menin kiertelemään taloja hostsisarusten Elijahin ja Aubreyn sekä näiden serkun lasten kanssa. Yks näistä lapsista oli aivan järkyttynyt kun kuuli, että tää on mun ensimmäinen Halloween, ja kysyi, että "millaset vanhemmat sulla oikeen on!?" Ihmiset ei ollut nyt mitenkään hirveen innostuneita siitä, että 17-vuotias ihminen on kerjäämässä karkkia, niin sain yleensä neljäsosan karkista mitä lapsukaiset sai, ja kaupan päälle aika hienon mulkasun, haha. Käytiin myös kummitustalossa, mikä ei ollut erityisen pelottava, mutta hauskaa oli kuitenkin.

Halloween happened and now it's gone. Usually I'm a super cynical Finn when it comes to Halloween, but this year I celebrated it with a passion! Next year I can be as cynical as I want to, haha.
Trick-or-treating was my favorite thing about Halloween! I was dressed as a robber. I was trick-or-treatin with my host siblings Elijah and Aubrey and their cousin's kids. One of these kids was so shocked when she learned that this was my first real Halloween, and she asked "what kind of parents do you have!?" People didn't enjoy that a high schooler was trick-or-treating so I got about a quarter of the candy the little ones got, and on top of that a mighty glare, haha. We also went to a haunted house, which wasn't really that scary. One of the funnest nights of my exchange!

Wedding Daze

Tänä viikonloppuna juhlittiin hostperheen sukulaisen, Whitleyn, ja tämän sulhasen Brysonin häitä! Hääseremonia oli Tri-Cities -alueella ja juhla Oregonin puolella, noin kahden tunnin päästä Tri-Citiesista. Nää oli mun ensimmäiset häät missä olen ollut, lukuun ottamatta niitä, joissa olen vieraillut vauvana.

Whitley ja Bryson menivät naimisiin lauantaina, mutta häitä juhlittiin perjantaina, mikä oli mun mielestä vähän erikoista. Lauantaina istuin tunnin lasten kanssa kirkon puolella, koska mä en voi mennä temppeliin, kuten ei myöskään mun hostsisarukset ja niiden serkut. Siinä sai touhuta vauvojen kanssa, joten se meni aika nopeesti!

This weekend I was at my host family's relative Whitley and her fiance Bryson's wedding! The wedding ceremony was in Tri-Cities, and the wedding reception was in Oregon, about two hours away from Tri-Cities. This was my first wedding, not including the weddings I've bee to when I was a baby.
Whitley and Bryson got married on Saturday but the party was on Friday. This was kind of strange to me. On Saturday I just sat in the church with my host siblings and their cousins, because they and I can't go to the temple. I got to spend an hour with the babies so the time went by super fast, though!

Scarywood

Idahossa on huvipuisto nimeltään Silverwood, joka järjestää Halloweenin aikaan Scarywoodin, jossa siis tyypit jahtaa sua moottorisahojen kanssa ja muuta mukavaa.

Ennen Scarywoodia menin Bradleyn kyydillä Spokaneen hieman shoppailemaan. Matka oli tosi mukava, ja Spokanessa on aina hauska käydä.

Scarywoodin laitteiden jonot oli jotain täysin naurettavaa. Sen neljän tunnin aikana, mitä koko huvipuistossa vietettiin pääsin yhteen kummitustaloon ja kahteen muuhun laitteeseen. Pari tuttua odotti 1,5 tuntia, että pääsisivät yhteen laitteeseen, mutteivat lopulta päässeetkään siihen, sillä joku oli oksentanut sinne. Mulla oli kuitenkin kivaa, vaikka tuntu että rahat meni tuossa hommassa hukkaan... pari kertaa pelästyin kyllä ihan kunnolla, haha!

In Idaho there's an amusement park called Silverwood and during Halloween they do something called Scarywood where there's all kind of crazy guys chase you with chain saws and all that fun stuff.
Before Scarywood I went to Spokane to shop a little. It was fun, I love going to Spokane!
The lines in Scarywood were something ridiculous... In the four hours that we spent there I went to one scary hoes and two other rides! A couple of people I know waited for 1.5 hours to get to a ride, but they never got in it because someone had vomited on it. But I did have a good time anyway, even though I kind of felt like it was a waste of money... I did get scared a few times though, haha!
